How we collect, use and protect personal data when you contact us, book a consultation, or purchase a website through sightlydesign.com.

1. Who we are

Sightly Web Design ("Sightly", "we", "us", "our") provides website design and build services to businesses across Ireland. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data when you contact us, book a consultation, or purchase a website through sightlydesign.com.

Contact details:

2. What personal data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details — name, email address, phone number, business name
  • Enquiry details — information you share during a phone consultation, by email, or via a contact form (e.g. what your business does, what you need from a website)
  • Content you provide — text, images, logos, and other material supplied for building your website
  • Payment confirmation details — such as your name, email, and transaction reference, provided to us by our payment processor after a purchase (we do not collect or store your card details ourselves)

3. How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide quotes
  • Deliver the website design and build service you've purchased
  • Communicate with you about your project (updates, requests for content, launch, support)
  • Issue receipts and manage payments
  • Comply with legal and accounting obligations

4. Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the basis of:

  • Contract — processing necessary to provide the service you've requested or purchased
  • Consent — where you've voluntarily given us information (e.g. via a contact form or phone call)
  • Legal obligation — for example, retaining transaction records for tax purposes

5. Payment processing

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Sightly does not see or store your card details. Stripe's own privacy policy governs how they handle your payment information — see stripe.com/privacy.

6. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with:

  • Stripe, to process payments
  • Service providers who help us operate (e.g. hosting, email), where necessary
  • Authorities, if required by law

7. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services, maintain your website (where applicable), and meet legal/accounting requirements (typically up to 6 years for financial records, in line with Irish tax law).

8. Cookies

If sightlydesign.com uses cookies or similar tracking technologies (e.g. for analytics), we will ask for your consent where required and provide details of what is used and why.

9. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at sightly.webdesign@gmail.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC), Ireland's supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie.
